Original Site

Students of Art Studies can study in specialized areas of concentration that nurture the ability to think flexibly and view the world from a broad perspective.

The Art Studies Major aims to foster persons who, by undergoing a diverse curriculum offered by professors with active careers in the international arena, possess a wealth of knowledge that supports a broad outlook and the ability to see and understand art without conventional constraints.

The Art Studies Major is made up of 4 areas of concentration: Musicology, Film Studies, Art History, and Art Media Theory.

Specialized study of art requires one to have a wide and flexible viewpoint regarding all forms of art. The field of film studies, for example, is a field where art and music is deeply and mutually related.

The Art Studies Major offers its students an opportunity to delve deeply into their chosen areas of concentration while at the same time providing an environment that helps them develop insight by expanding their views to areas beyond their immediate focus. The classes of the highest standard in all 4 areas of concentration make this major unique.

Graduates of this program may pursue a career in areas such as research, education, or any other that emphasizes flexibility. Possibilities include museum curator, artistic director for theaters and other venues, producers in charge of planning and production, and positions in broadcasting or publishing.
