Major of Economics

Original Site

Students of Economics Major can study their areas of specialty under an up-to-date program that directly reflects world economic conditions.

The educational goal of the major of economics is two-fold.
The first is to nurture researchers who possess the skills needed to engage in future independent research. The second is to train superior specialists by imparting the knowledge necessary for them to succeed in careers that involve a high level of expertise.

By drawing upon theories, systems, history and empirical analysis, students will develop the ability to unearth actual conditions of, and consider various possible solutions for, a large spectrum of issues that have accrued in Japan, as well as many overseas countries, involving current fiscal and financial situations and the business climate.

Our curriculum is continually revised in line with the changes that take place in the world’s economic climate. Emphasis is also placed in the areas of information economics and public economics corresponding to today’s societal conditions as well as with computerization.

All our lectures and training are richly informative and provide an environment suited to learning high-level economic theory. They help students develop the ability to construct dissertations based on actual analysis and with concomitant implications.

The Economics Major does not simply focus on having its students gather knowledge but strives rather to cultivate problem-finding and -solving abilities through the application of empirical analysis. We work to cultivate highly insightful future researchers and educators of quality expertise and diversity and who possess superior problem-solving skills. We provide education to those who seek career advancement and lifelong learning.

We also have been diversifying our lecture themes, holding entrance exams for shakaijin (working professionals), and offering night classes on a variety of subjects.

The Economics Major offers a program that allows students to acquire credits for classes taken at any of the 8 universities in partnership.
