Major of International Studies

Original Site

Students in the Faculty of International Studies receive guidance from teams of professors to gain highly specialized, cross-boundary knowledge.

The goal of the graduate school is to foster professionals with an international outlook. Graduate students are provided freedom to explore their own intellectual identities through their research.

Our curriculum does not necessarily adhere to conventional academic disciplines, but is set up in an issue-focused manner as a way to respond to our students’ concerns. The curriculum provides a wide range of perspectives, frameworks and areas of interest. To create a venue for graduate students to boldly challenge themselves in tackling various global issues currently faced by humanity, we endeavor to present a graduate program that is grounded in a matrix that is international and interdisciplinary.

The International Studies major is made up of 3 scholarly areas: Japan and Asia Studies, Peace Studies, and Global Social Studies.

Our diverse department is made up of eminent scholars who are highly accomplished in their areas of research, as well as professors of foreign nationality and those who have overseas business experience. Together, they provide an environment that encourages graduate students to raise their awareness of global issues.

The graduate school enables students to participate in overseas internship programs at NGOs and NPOs to facilitate those students who are motivated to devote themselves to the promotion of true internationalization and public service. We also accept in our program working professionals, those who are motivated to advance their expertise or take part in lifelong learning.
