Public Advertisement for a Faculty Position Opening(Peace and Conflict Studies)


Department of International Studies, Faculty of International Studies Meijigakuin University

1. Teaching Responsibilities: 
  “Peace and Conflict Studies” and “Northeast Asia Area Studies” (Law and Politics). 
  The candidate is also expected to take charge of a number of other related lectures
  and seminar courses, some of which are taught in English.
  Note: Communication skills in Japanese and English are needed for both teaching and administrative duties as a faculty member.

2. Area of Specialization: 
  Peace and conflict research, with strong knowledge of concrete issues related to peace in Northeast Asia.
  Scholars with expertise in areas such as human rights are encouraged to apply.

3. Position and Rank:
  One full-time (tenured) position
  Rank: Professor, Associate Professor, or Lecturer.

4. Qualifications:
  The candidate is required to have the Ph.D.  In exceptional cases, a candidate without the Ph.D. may also be considered
  if the applicant has an equivalent level of knowledge and has demonstrated substantial research and professional experience.

5. Application Deadline:
  Applications must be received by September 15, 2017.

6. Starting Date:
  April 1, 2018

7. Application Materials:
  (1) Curriculum vitae with a photo and email address.
  (2) List of publications.
  (3) Electronic data or copies of three publications. 
     (Indicate the most important one out of the three with a circle in the list of publications.)
  (4) A statement on how you can contribute to the Faculty of International Studies with respect to teaching,
     research and administration. (c.1,000 words)
  (5) Names and contact information of two researchers who have agreed to be your reference person.

8. Interview:
  Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an interview, which is due to be held on October 8.
