Department Research Centers

Institute for Psychological Research

Institute for Psychological Research consists of two departments, Research and Consulting. In the Research department, we conduct research on various topics associated with the psychological clinic. In the Consulting department, we offer consulting services and seminars to local residents as well as opportunities for practical training to the students. We publish results of our research projects in the "Department of Psychology, Research Center Bulletin" at the end of each year.

Institute for Language and Culture

We study languages and cultures of the world as well as the relationship between language and culture from various angles. As a research center, we offer periodical workshops and seminars, "Research Seminar with Invited Scholars," and recitation with poets. We publish our bulletin "Language and Culture" (annual) for our research studies.

Institute for Research in Business and Economics

Industrial Economy Research Center is a part of the Department of Economics. We conduct research and studies on the domestic and international economies and various corporate management issues that contribute to the development of Japanese industries. We organize workshops with project teams, collaborators, and other people from outside our school and summarize the results in "Research Center Annual Report" every year.

Institute for Sociology and Social Work

Institute for Sociology and Social Work consists of three groups:
(1) Research/Study group conducts research and studies regarding sociology and social welfare, and organizes debriefing sessions on the results.
(2) Consulting/Research group offers consulting services regarding living and welfare with professionals in social welfare, law and psychiatry collaborating with local related organizations. Additionally, we support self-help groups, welfare institutions and NPOs and conduct public seminars on volunteer activities and social welfare.
(3) Internal affairs group promotes research and studies by current students and alumni (conducting presentations for studies and publishing bulletins). We publish our research, studies and activities in "Center Annual Report" and "Center News" (both annual).

Institute for Legal and Political Research

Institute for Legal and Political Research is a part of the Department of Law. We conduct research and studies on law and political incidents, publish annual report, and collect reference materials. We offer an environment for research and studies conducted by department staff. We also offer periodic workshops and staff seminars to report our research and recognize each staff's work. Additionally, we are involved in collaborative studies conducted from various aspects with professionals outside of our school.

Institute for International Studies

Institute for International Studies is an organization that supports research/studies and education in the Department of International Studies:
(1) Research/studies in research meetings, lectures, international symposiums and foras.
(2) Provides information for researchers to access individual or collaborative studies.
(3) Publishes "Research Center Annual Report" and "International Studies."
(4) Offers public seminars.
Our public seminars are a core intellectual circle in local society. The past seminars included "From Kanagawa: Concept of Peace in 21st Century," "World of Women and Men," and “History of Illness and Healing."

Institute for the study of Liberal Arts

Liberal education has recently become more important in college education and our purpose is to propose new possibilities for our education. Based on this purpose, we collect and maintain reference materials, offer workshops and lectures, plan collaborative research projects, and publish results of our studies in our bulletin. Since language education is very important for our activities, we promote research projects and lectures on second language education and conduct TOEIC and TOEFL tests for current students to evaluate their level of English.
