Saturday, December 18, 2010

3:00PM - 7:00PM
Main Building (Building #1), the 5th floor
Room 1554*
Meiji Gakuin University, Tokyo
* The room is different than the usual one.

Program

We are having two data sessions and, perhaps, one small presentation.

3:00 PM A. Nishizaka,
Participation frames in prenatal ultrasoud exams

During prenatal ultrasound exams, healthcare providers only rarely look at pregnant women's faces. I have so far collected 22 fragments in which healthcare providers do possibly look at pregnant women's face during their showing them what goes on the screen or explaining on it. I temporarily classified these fragments into four or five types. I will bring some of them, together with some observations to facilitate discussions on how these phenomena are related to the organization of participation frames in prenatal ultrasound exams.

4:00 PM Data session 2:
infant-adult interaction (Dom Berducci)

5:30 PM Data session 1:
interaction among Japanese university students, conducting a discussion in English (Eric Hauser)

If anybody is interested in bringing their own data, analyses, observations, arguments, or whatever, to a next meeting to discuss together, please contact Aug Nishizaka at augnish(a)soc.meijigakuin.ac.jp.
