青木剛 教授
主な担当科目 イギリス文学(２０世紀小説)
研究指導内容 Virginia WoolfのMrs. Dallowayを主な対象に、＜意識の流れ＞の技法を考察する。初学者のために、まず短編 "Carlyle's House"を読み＜意識の流れ＞の技法にある程度親しんでから、Mrs. Dallowayに進む。

新谷忠彦 教授
主な担当科目 イギリス文学(演劇)
研究指導内容 シェイクスピア作品を題材に、研究・考察を進めていく。作品の精読、作劇術や人物描写の検討を通して、シェイクスピア喜劇の特質を考えてみる。
先生からの一言 自分の研究を深めることは勿論だが、それと同じぐらい他の領域を広く学ぶことも大切なことである。こぢんまりとした研究には自ずと限界があり、そこに安住しては、深みのある研究は期待できないのではないだろうか。
生田少子 教授
主な担当科目 英語学(社会言語学)
研究指導内容 Interactional Sociolinguisticsの観点から主に日英語のinteractional discourseに焦点をあて、言語の機能を多角的に討究する。主として理論的側面を討究する。

主な担当科目 イギリス文学(近代小説)
研究指導内容 オースティン研究におけるEmmaのもつ意味はますます大きなものとなりつつある。Emmaテクスト及びEmmaをめぐる批評を読み、この作品の全体像を明らかにする。
主な担当科目 アメリカ文学(19〜20世紀小説)
研究指導内容 主としてWilliam Faulkner,The Unvanquishedの前半部分を題材とする。精読を通じて研究をすすめ、この作品の持つ意義や他の作品に与えた影響、問題点に関する考察を深める。

研究指導内容 故Peter LadefogedのA Course in Phonetics,Fifth Edition(2006)をテキストとし音声学のエッセンスとは何か、ということを考えていく。
佐野哲也 教授
主な担当科目 英語学(言語習得論)
研究指導内容 言語習得の重要な文献、最新の文献を購読する。参加者がレポートをし、、それをもとに文献の意義を討論する。そのプロセスの中で今後の研究課題を模索し、オリジナルな期末論文を作成してもらう。
筒井正明 教授
主な担当科目 アメリカ文学(20世紀小説)
研究指導内容 ポストモダン作家トマス・ピンチョンの『競売ナンバー49の叫び』(Thomas Pynchon:The Crying of Lot 49)を取り上げ、精読と研究を行い、作品の取り持つ特質を考察していく。
富山英俊 教授
主な担当科目 アメリカ文学(詩・批評)
研究指導内容 アメリカ詩について学び、高度な読解・解釈能力を培う。その上で詩史の概要を把握し、文化史・社会史・批評史との関連を把握する。
林 完枝 教授
主な担当科目 イギリス文学(現代小説)
研究指導内容 19世紀イギリス小説とヴィクトリア朝小説について、理解を深める。特に女性の表象やマイノリティ文化などについて考察する。

研究指導内容 生成文法における統語論及び言語類型論の重要な研究を古典的なものから最新のものまで批判的に精読しながら言語の多様性と普遍性の問題を追究し言語データの発掘・分析方法を学ぶ。

主な担当科目 アメリカ文学(小説・批評)
研究指導内容 ヴェトナム戦争の帰還兵たちは、語りたくても語れないような戦場の記憶をどのように表現してきたのか？この問いを追求することで、記憶と表現の問題を理論的に考える。

The following passage may reveal what I value in my learning and teaching:

Where does the drama get its material? From the "unending conversation" that is going on at the point in history when we are born. Imagine that you are in a parlor. You come late. When you arrive, others have long preceded you, and they are engaged in a heated discussion, a discussion too heated for them to pause and tell you exactly what it is about. In fact, the discussion has already begun long before any of them got there, so that no one present is qualified to retrace for you all the steps that has gone before. You listen for a while, until you decide that you have caught the tenor of the argument; then you put in your oar. Someone answers; you answer him; another comes to your defense; another aligns himself against you, to either the embarrassment or gratification of your opponent, depending on the quality of your ally's assistance.
