Tanika Sarkar

Dr. Tanika Sarkar is Professor at the Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Her first book is Bengal 1928-1934: The Politics of Protest (Delhi: Oxford University, 1987). Recent publications include Words to Win: The Making of eAmar Jibanf, A Modern Autobiography (New Delhi: Kali for Women, 1999), and Hindu Wife, Hindu Nation: Community, Religion, and Cultural Nationalism (New Delhi: Permanent Black, 2001). Those reflect her interest to analyze religion, gender and politics in Indian context.
