Study Abroad and Internships
Long-term Study Abroad
Meiji Gakuin University has student exchange agreements with sixteen foreign universities; students are able to study abroad for a year at these schools. The partner institutions also send their students to Meiji Gakuin. The largest exchange agreement is with the University of California, which sends up to twenty-five students to the MGU Yokohama campus every term. Twenty-five students from MGU can enroll at a UC campus for one year. In 2009, MGU concluded new exchange agreements with Manchester University and Oxford Brookes University in the UK; GTS students may apply for these programs a well.
Overseas Studies
International internships in Japan and other countries will generally last for three to six months. The GTS Department encourages its Japanese students to seek overseas internship opportunities, and it works with foreign students to place them with international organizations and businesses operating in Japan. MGU has an internship program in Melbourne, Australia, and added another in Los Angeles in 2009. A member of the faculty guides the students in their preparations, and helps them to evaluate their internship experiences.
