Prof. Watson speaks at international conference in Seoul.
Professor Watson was invited to participate in an academic forum on non-Western literature and culture held at the International Center for Korean Studies of Korea University, Seoul, South Korea, on September 29-30, 2011. The topic of the forum was "Canonicity and Otherness in the Non-Western Culture." 「非欧米文化圏におけるカノン形成と他者性」 Michael Watson's paper was titled "Larger than Life: Canonized Figures in The Tale of Heike and its Reception." 伝説になった人々—『平家物語』におけるカノン化された登場人物とその受容— The participants included many scholars from South Korea as well as Vietnam, India, and the United States.
