Stimulus+™ 1.0b1.2 (appr. 1.1M) Mac only

This is a self-expanding archive of the Stimulus+ 1.0b1.2. You should be able to double-click on it to expand it into the Stimulus+ folder. It includes Stimulus+, the Stimulus+ manual, a sample data set, a sample generated run, and the customary ReadMe file which no one ever does.

Background

What is Stimulus+?

Stimulus+ is a stimulus presentation program for use by language investigators. This version is still based on the HyperCard engine, and is therefore Mac-only. It is currently not in development, although that is a possibility once I get ready to collect more data.

What does it do?

Stimulus+ allows the researcher to:

  • present written stimuli to participants on the computer screen
(aural and visual presentation paradigms are planned)
  • select from 1 to 3 blocks of stimuli
  • enter up to 25 stimuli per block, and up to 5 preset display durations per block
  • save stimuli to a file, and load them from a file (one block, or all 3)
  • select user-controlled or preset display durations for any block
  • randomize stimuli for any block (randomization of durations is planned)
  • save generated runs to a TEXT file
The cost?

Stimulus+ is feedback-ware: it is free, but if you use it, please give me some feedback. I may actually take it under development again some day...

Who are you?

A linguist who's been a hack amateur from long ago (a Commodore 64 with a cassette tape drive!). The first version of this stack was used to collect the data analyzed in my dissertation.

Manual

The manual is currently in html form; a pretty much bare-bones explanation of the parts and workings. It may expand if the program itself does; the current version is here (opens in a new window).
