　　　　　　仮名序

　やまと歌（うた）は、人の心を種（たね）として、よろづの言（こと）の葉（は）とぞなれりける。世（よ）の中にある人、ことわざ繁（しげ）きものなれば、心に思ふことを、見るもの聞くものにつけて、言（い）ひ出（いだ）せるものなり。花（はな）に鳴（な）く鴬（うぐひす）、水にすむ蛙（かはづ）の声（こゑ）を聞けば、生（い）きとし生けるもの、いずれか歌をよまざりける。力（ちから）をも入（い）れずして天地（あめつち）を動（うご）かし、目に見えぬ鬼神（おにがみ）をもあはれと思はせ、男女（をとこをむな）の中をやはらげ、猛（たけ）きもののふの心をも慰（なぐさ）むるは歌なり。
