Research

I conduct research into fundamental theories that reveal what our world is made of and how it revolves. Specifically, my research focuses on superstring theory (string theory) and related models of quantum field theory and quantum gravity theory. In particular, I am working on obtaining exact expressions for various physical quantities in these models by making use of symmetries. I am also interested in related classical/quantum integrable systems and some areas of number theory.

Possible graduation research topics

In their graduation research, students are asked to explore a topic chosen from the fields of information science and mathematical physics, while learning about the theoretical background by reading the literature in a loop, as well as practising with computers.
Examples of topics include: code theory, which underpins the efficiency and reliability of information and communications; systematic construction of exact solutions to partial differential equations; lattice models, which are useful for understanding the properties of materials.

Message to candidates and students

Mathematics is the universal language for describing the natural world and forms the basis of all science and technology, not only in the field of information science. In the classes, we aim to steadily acquire the basic skills in mathematics that are indispensable for being active in the future. In addition, we hope that students will also come into contact with the fascination and beauty that can only be seen through a deeper understanding of mathematics.
