フィールド・スタディでは事例研究でまとめた研究をもとに、主体的に現地で情報収集・分析・体験学習することにより、現状・問題に関する知識を深めると同時に、大学で学んでいる経済学がどのように応用できるのかを考える力を養うことを目標にしています。また、異文化の中に実際に身をおくことで、他国・他民族・他文化に対する理解とコミュニケーション能力を高めるとともに、日本に対する新たな視点を持つことが期待されます。参加学生の皆さんには、多くの方々のご尽力で成り立っているこのプログラムから多くのことを吸収し、ご自身の将来の糧となるよう、自覚を持って最大限の努力をして頂きたいと思います。

This course aims to deepen the knowledge of current state of affairs surrounding the research theme through experiential learning, data gathering and analysis, as well as to learn how to apply economics to real world problems. By actually putting oneself in a different cultural context, students are expected to better understand other cultures, to strengthen their communication ability, and to have a new perspective on their own country. Each student should make every effort to absorb as much as possible from the programme, which is enabled by precious contributions from many people, in order to build up her/his knowledge and capacity.

１．英語や仏語のスキルはどのくらい必要ですか？ What is the language requirement?

語学力は高い方が好ましいのですが、海外での授業は通訳が付きますので初心者レベルでも心配はありません。海外渡航先での現地の方との積極的なコミュニケーションでの語学向上を期待します。ハワイのフィールド・スタディに関しては英語集中講座が最初の数日間予定されています。

It is better to have language skills, but not necessary. All lectures will have a translator. Nonetheless, students are expected to improve their language ability through active course participation and communications with local students and other people. For the Field Study in Hawai’i, an intensive English language course is planned to be held for the first few days.

２．海外現地の治安や安全面が不安です。 I am worried about the security situation abroad.

特に危険な場所へ行く予定はありませんが、夜間の外出等は控え、危険な場所へは立ち寄らない等、各自節度ある行動を取ることが必要です。

All sites are in safe areas, however, students should be aware of possible danger and should exercise reasonable caution (e.g., not going out during the night).

３．海外研修中は、日本での他の授業はどうなりますか？ What would happen to other classes if I go abroad?

フィールド・スタディーは通常の学期外の開講になりますので、他の授業への影響はありません。但し、学期外に実施される他の研修プログラムと重なる場合はあり得ます。

Field study course will take place outside of the normal term time, and thus should not affect other classes held during the term time. However, other study programmes held outside of the term may have a time conflict.

４．海外滞在費用はどれくらいかかりますか？　How much will it cost?

年度及び場所により異なるので一概には言えませんが、２０〜３０万円程度は掛かります。なお、成績優秀者（もしくは特に必要性の高い学生）には「原後雄太基金より一部助成金が出ます。

It is difficult to say since the cost varies depending on various factors. Roughly speaking, the programme is expected to cost at least about 200,000~300,000 yen per student. There is a limited amount of grant provided by the “Harago Yuta Foundation” for good performing students (or students in need).

５．万が一、事故にあったら？　What will happen in case of an accident?

参加者は必ず学部指定の保険に入って頂きます。保険加入には学部からの助成もあります。

All participants must join the insurance scheme designated by the faculty. The faculty will partially subsidise the insurance premium.

６．国内での授業内容を教えてください。What is the content of the course?

７．渡航先で自由行動はありますか？ Will there be any free time abroad?

通常多少はあります。　There is generally some free time.
