Over 5,000 Visitors at the Totsuka Matsuri!

The 22nd Totsuka Matsuri was held on the Yokohama Campus on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26, 2019. The weather on both days was warm and sunny. Over 5,000 people of all ages, from young children to seniors, came to the festival.

On Saturday the 25th, the event kicked off with a colorful parade featuring the Meiji Gakuin Symphonic Band and the Cheerleading Club. Refreshment stands offering a range of foods including Indonesian cuisine, “bakudan-yaki” (jumbo grilled dumplings) and “Olympic donuts” were popular right from the start.

After satisfying their appetite with delicious refreshments, visitors enjoyed a variety of attractions and activities, including the “Parasports Workshop” and “Product Fair Supporting the Revitalization of Fukushima.” The “Informal Concert Vol. 38 - Wind Music Gathering,” held in classroom 720, attracted a big audience as well. A harmoniously combined co-performance by the Meiji Gakuin Symphonic Band and the Toyota Junior High School Wind Music Club earned a big round of applause.

The events on Sunday the 26th included a stage performance by Meiji Gakuin’s dance group Break Jam, which has achieved the title of number one university dance club in Japan. Their exciting performance was enthusiastically received by the crowd. The refreshment stands and various events were highly successful that day as well. A large number of visitors enjoyed the Totsuka Matsuri up until the festival ending time of 16:00.
