At Meiji Gakuin University, we consider interpersonal interaction to be the basis of university education, and so have always emphasized face-to-face instruction. Because the spread of the Omicron strain of COVID-19 had not stopped before the start of spring semester classes in February 2022, we were forced to start using classrooms at limited capacities. As the infection situation improved, however, we took measures to convert remote classes to face-to-face classes whenever possible, even in the middle of the semester.
Starting from fall semester 2022, in principle all classes will return to a face-to-face format. Furthermore, extracurricular activities and seminar study camps can now be conducted while taking precautions against infection, but under less restrictive conditions than in the past.
Our campus has been filled with students since April, and for the first time in two years we have returned to the energetic atmosphere typical of a university. Once all our students are back on campus and classes return to normal, the University will quickly regain its pre-COVID appearance.
Even so, the COVID pandemic will leave scars behind. We will continue to provide support so that students can continue their studies, such as special scholarships for students facing financial difficulties due to the COVID pandemic. The Academic Affairs Department will notify you of details regarding special considerations for students with special health concerns, so please watch for further communications.
Note that the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet entirely over. Depending on how it develops in the future, we may be forced to resume restrictions on university life, so please continue to monitor the University website and other information.
