Meiji Gakuin University’s Endeavor is Selected as Project to Support the Employability in University Students by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.

The Project to Support the Employability of University Students is an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for the government to offer support to universities in their educational reform endeavors with the goal of training students to graduate as socially and vocationally independent individuals. Universities are to offer a comprehensive education that includes practical science-based specialized teaching that spans from matriculation to graduation, under a school-wide system made up of organically linked university organizations. Meiji Gakuin University’s project, Cyclical Career Education by MG Alliance was selected as part of this program.

This project is carried out under the university’s educational principle “Do for Others,” to bring together the university (faculty members), graduates (alumni), and relevant businesses (practicing professionals) to create an MG Alliance, which, as a unified entity, works together to train students to gain the necessary skills to become successfully employed after graduation. This goal will be realized based on the following five pillars:
1. Establish an MG Alliance and an Alliance Support Office
2. Accumulate and analyze basic data relevant to employability training by Meiji Gakuin University
3. Visualize and enhance class subjects and extracurricular workshops
4. Develop a career portfolio
5. Hire career coordinators

A total of 441 national, public and private academic institutions applied for this project (341 applications from universities, 83 applications from junior colleges, and 17 joint applications) from across the nation. Of them, 180 (157 applications from universities, 19 applications from junior colleges, and four joint applications) were selected.
