Based on Meiji Gakuin University's Policy regarding, Admission of New Students, the Faculty of Letters has established the following “Policy regarding Admission of New Students” in accordance with its “Policy regarding Graduation & Degree Conferment” and “Policy regarding Curriculum Formulation and Implementation”, reflecting the faculty’s Human Resource Development Aims and Educational Goals.
- Type of Personnel Sought
- Demonstrates the fundamental knowledge and skills, reasoning and judgment, as well as the reading comprehension and expression abilities that are expected outcomes at the senior high school level and necessary for study in the academic fields of English, English Literature, French, French Literature and various art disciplines.
- Possesses a keen interest in languages, culture and arts, as well as the earnest ambition to open up new cultural possibilities through an understanding of these areas.
- Understands and endorses the university’s educational philosophy of “Do for Others”, possesses an interest in the various issues arising in present-day society, and aspires to contribute to an inclusive society through independent study in the fields of English, English literature, French, French literature and various art disciplines.

- Possesses the ambition to learn broadly about the cultures of Europe and French-speaking countries through the language, culture, history, arts and ideologies of France, as well as the aspiration to study diverse, stimulating cultures that differ from those of Japan or English-speaking countries and become capable of generating novel propositions and original ideas.

Policy for Admission of Teacher Certification Course Students
In order to nurture individuals according to the university’s Human Resource Development Aims and Educational Goals, Meiji Gakuin has established the following policy regarding the admission of Teacher Certification Course students.
- Requirements for Admission to Teacher Certification Course
- Understands Meiji Gakuin University’s educational philosophy, possesses an interest and inquisitiveness towards people and society, as well as the ambition to earnestly pursue study.
- Possesses the ambition to independently engage in Teacher Certification Course classes.Capable of being an earnest participant in classes (able to take notes, make contributions as required, etc.).
- Demonstrates the fundamental abilities that are expected outcomes at the senior high school level (knowledge, skills, reasoning, judgment and expression).
- Possesses an interest in society.Possesses the ambition to contribute to our society by independently solving its challenges (education [education theory/systems, teachers, etc.], growth of children [development, learning, etc.], jobs related to children).
- Challenges oneself to speak in front of others.
- Requirements for Admission to Teacher Training & Nursing Care Experience Modules
Guidance is provided prior to teacher training, nursing care and other practical experiences. Students who do not attend the guidance classes cannot take the teacher training course or participate in experiences such as nursing care.Students who have completed their third year of study but have not attained credit in prerequisite subjects related to teacher training cannot take the course or the teaching practicum.
