Meiji Gakuin University places a strong emphasis on international education and exchanges. Meiji Gakuin University provides many opportunities to develop links to the world, through its overseas study program, as a place to understand the world through its political, economic, and cultural background, and as a place to consider the issues of the day through interactions with persons of many different nationalities. To come to know the world, you must come to know Japan and come to know yourself. International Study

Meiji Gakuin University provides a wealth of opportunities to interact with the world, including long- and short-term overseas study programs, and a “buddy” system that lets you experience what it’s like to study abroad without leaving Japan. You can experience international exchanges on a daily basis if you wish.

Faculty of International Studies

The Faculty of International Studies was the first of its kind in Japan when it opened its doors. As a pioneer in the field of international studies, it welcomes students who aspire to be active on the international stage.

Department of International Business

All students enrolled in the Department of International Business, starting with whose entering in the 2015 academic year, study abroad in the autumn of their sophomore year. This curriculum is designed to enable students to experience international business first-hand.

Faculties and Departments

The Shirokane and Yokohama campuses are home to six faculties and 15 departments. They offer wide-ranging curriculums to satisfy students’ curiosity and spirit of inquiry while fostering their ability to think.

Center for Liberal Arts

By offering opportunities to delve deeply into academic fields outside your major, to learn about the issues facing the world, and to explore other cultures, the Center for Liberal Arts strives to foster imaginativeness and an ability to solve problems.

Sharing Laughs and Tears with Your Friends

Meiji Gakuin University aims to promote excellence in both academics and athletics by actively supporting independent student activities related to both sports and culture, resulting in a wide variety of active clubs and circles. The rugby club, thesoccer club, and other sports clubs are part of the Project to Enhance Sports at Meiji Gakuin. Another example of the wide variety of activities that students can participate in is the dance circle Break Jam, which boasts a record of having won the title of Best Dance Circle in Japan for both 2015 and 2017. Yet the greatest pleasure of participation in clubs and circles is getting to know valued friends with whom one can share the joy and excitement of these activities.

A wide variety of registered student groups ranging from sports teams to voluntary associations are active at Meiji Gakuin University. Some of them are chapters of national or international volunteer organizations.

In addition to information on league matches of sports clubs affiliated with the Project to Strengthen Sports at Meiji Gakuin University, schedules are posted for the matches and performances of a variety of registered student groups.

Based on its educational philosophy of “Do for Others,” Meiji Gakuin University not only supports autonomous efforts by students through volunteering and other activities, but also supports student life in a variety of ways, including note-taking, to address challenges in an increasingly diverse modern society. We call upon young people to participate in volunteer work in order to broaden the volunteering spirit, foster people willing to take on the challenges of the times, and forge links between people.

Volunteer Center

This is a unique, independent organization within the university where students and faculty can work together while building partnerships. The Volunteer Center aims to help each individual select the volunteer work to which he or she is best suited.
