Faculty introduction

Nurturing citizens who are able to envision and create a future for a contemporary, diverse society.

For over fifty years since our F founding in 1965, the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work has emphasized training students to become the foundation stone for future social reform. By helping students to develop profound insights into others and themselves, and teaching them to be generous, our goal is to educate people who will be able to contribute to creating a society that promotes mutual support with respect for personality and individuality. The Department of Sociology fosters the abilities to solve problems through understanding societies from multiple angles, such as family, school, work, and urban areas. The Department of Social Work teaches basic and specialist knowledge and practical skills in social welfare, cultivating the ability to lead to a solution to the problem. Both departments offer training at actual work sites as well as fieldwork in order to help deepen students’ studies through communication and fostering their ability to support others.
