The Faculty of International Studies, Meiji Gakuin University invites applications
for one full-time position in the Faculty’s English language education program.


Terms of Employment and Rank
The position is a full-time, non-tenure-track position for a term of four years
with the possibility of a single renewal for an additional four years based on a
review process during the fourth year. 
The successful applicant should be able to start working from April 1, 2019.  
The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Employment Details
This appointment will be in the Department of Global and Transcultural Studies (GTS),
in which all courses are taught in English.  The duties of this position will be
(1)teaching academic English courses (up to five ninety-minute class periods per week),
(2) supporting and mentoring the part-time English instructors, assistants and tutors, and
(3) performing administrative duties of the Academic English Program (AEP).
The appointee will attend departmental meetings with other full-time faculty,
reporting to the department chair about AEP matters.
The appointee will also need to liaise with other members of the faculty including members of the other department,
the Department of International Studies. The appointee should be available for teaching, meetings,
and class observations on all days when English classes are scheduled,
but can schedule either one full day or two half-days every week for off-campus research.
Working place is Yokohama Campus (Occasionally, trips to Shirokane Campus are requested.)
 

Qualifications
1、Master of Arts degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics. A Ph.D. in the humanities,
     social sciences or related fields is highly welcome.
2、Native competence in English. Preference will be given to candidates who have sufficient ability in spoken and
     written Japanese to carry out some administrative duties.
3、Experience in teaching academic English including courses in reading, research writing,
     composition and rhetoric to Japanese university students and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
4、Experience in supporting the administration of an English language program in a university.

2、Position Statement: Aims in teaching English to students in an all-English department in Japan (800 words maximum).
3、Two academic publications that demonstrate knowledge of and interest in language acquisition,
     language teaching, or another aspect of applied linguistics or teaching.
4、List of at least two referees—their names, position, and email contact details.
