【Position Details】
Affiliation: Department of Global and Transcultural Studies, Faculty of International Studies, Meiji Gakuin University
Position Title: Professor, Associate Professor, or Junior Associate Lecturer (Appointment will follow the university’s regulations for full-time faculty.)
Start Date: April 1, 2027
Number of Positions: One
Primary Teaching Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach first- and second-year courses including “Critical Inquiry & Writing,” “Presentation & Seminar Skills,” and “Communication in the 21st Century.” Depending on departmental needs, the candidate may also be required to teach seminars (zemi) and supervise undergraduate theses. All courses are, in principle, conducted in English..

【Compensation and Benefits】
In accordance with university regulations, including various allowances such as a year-end bonus, family, housing, position, and retirement allowances, as well as enrollment in the university pension system.

【Qualifications】
1. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in English as a Second Language Education or a related field, or hold a Master’s degree in the same field together with substantial practical experience in English language education.
2. Applicants must have knowledge of and experience in designing English language curricula in higher education and be able to coordinate and contribute to the development of the Academic English Program (AEP) in the department.
3. The position is open to all regardless of their nationality or first language. However, the successful candidate is expected to have a sufficient level of Japanese proficiency to perform standard university administrative duties in Japanese
4. Applicants must have the willingness and ability to play an active role in the management of the faculty and department.

Place of Employment: Yokohama Campus, Meiji Gakuin University (Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan). Occasional duties may be required at the university’s Shirokane Campus in Minato Ward, Tokyo.

2. List of educational and research achievements: Please mark the most important publication among your three main research achievements with a circle (〇). Accepted publications may also be listed if accompanied by proof of acceptance.
3. Three major research publications (books, articles, etc.). A summary must be provided for each publication (600–800 characters in Japanese or approximately 250 words in English).
4. Course outline and syllabus for either “Critical Inquiry & Writing” or “Presentation & Seminar Skills” (Assume 100 minutes per class for 28 class sessions).
5. Statement of teaching philosophy and future goals for the Academic English Program (AEP) in Japanese higher education (approximately 2,400 Japanese characters or 700–800 words in English).
6. Names and contact information of two referees who can be contacted regarding the applicant.

【Selection Process】
The selection process will consist of:
1. Document screening
2. Interview and teaching demonstration (“AEP” mock lesson)
・Interviews are scheduled to take place on: Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Meiji Gakuin University Yokohama Campus.
・Detailed information regarding the interview will be sent only to shortlisted candidates in mid-June.
・Domestic travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with university regulations.
・For applicants residing overseas, online interviews and teaching demonstrations may be conducted.
